With sorrow in our hearts, but hope in God’s promises, we announce the passing of our beloved mum, Mama Seraphina, who was called home to be with the Lord on 3rd March 2026.

She was the daughter of the late Augustino Obuye Kokonya and the late Klesencia Akumu, and step-daughter of the late Trudea Khaunya.

She was a devoted mother of Emily Akinyi, Lilian Taabu, Moses Obuye and Mary Melleniah and mother-in-law of George, Richard and Regina.

She was a loving grandmother of Stephen and Susan, Miriam, Harriet, James, Moses, Seraphine, Beverly, Ethan, Alexander and Doris, Alphaxard, Shadrack, Idris, Nia, and a great-grandmother of Maleek, Leroy, Jason and Lewis.

She was a sister of the late Mellenia and the late Christine.

She was a step-sister of JaneRose, Beatrice and Henry, and the late Albert, the late Anastasia, the late Festus and the late Godfrey.

She was a sister-in-law of Clementina, Evelyn and Stanslaus, and the late Praxidis, the late Pauline, the late Bakhoya and the late Romanos.

She was a niece of the late Okobio, the late Balongo, the late Nakhungu, the late Abio, the late Pius, the late Kokonya, the late Ambia and the late Busuru, and an aunt of many in Kisoko, Okatikok and Ebusakadi.

She was a devout member of the Catholic Church and served God with passion, dedication and humility.

Family and friends are meeting daily for prayers and funeral arrangements at her home in Rongai.

A Requiem Mass will be held on 19th March 2026 at Nkoroi Catholic Church from 12:00 pm to 2:00pm.

The funeral service will take place at her home in Nambale, Busia, on Saturday, 21st March 2026.
