My deepest condolences to the family . May she RIEP ✌🏾🙏🏾! Janet and I worked together at Imani School in Thika . We lived in the same complex , too. After leaving Imani in December 1996 , we sort of lost contact as I'd moved to the States. However , we " found " each other again and kept in touch via WhatsApp. We were supposed to meet when I visited home last year , but it didn't work. We exchanged New Year greetings , but she never mentioned anything about her health. I actually forwarded something to her on WhatsApp on January 20th . , which she read and that's the last time we communicated. May the Lord give you all the strength , peace and comfort to get through this most difficult time. My family and Iwill keep you in our prayers ( 3 of my children were at Imani , so they know her well ). Remain blessed 🙏🏾🤗❤️!

Ms.Janet Omuriai, Was one of my matrons at Imani school, Thika. I had not seen her since I graduated back in 1992. She was an absolute no nonsense disciplinarian and ran a tight ship. I'm 50 now, and last saw her when I was about 15/16 years old. I didn't always understand her at that age, but I certainly appreciated what she said and meant looking back now. A tough cookie she was,but always meant well and was kind too. My condolences to her entire family for this great loss. Rest in peace ,dear Matron Omuriai. You will be missed.💐🙏🏾🕊

Janet stood Tall among peers. She stool tall and strong in the crowds. Externally she was tough- Internally she was tender. She spoke her mind and did things the right way.. We connected last year, after a long time... We were to join a community together- This January, she told me that she would sort her laptop's screen before joining, due to poor sight... She was to let me know when she was ready. This morning, I woke up to see her picture in the forum..🙆🏾‍♀️🥲 Rest easy, my friend... Till we meet at Jesus' feet.💕

So true Chitundu. She was a strict but empathetic matron to us at Imani. Sincerest condolences to the family. My fondest memory was how she breastfed her daughter and nourished her well into her toddler years. As a dietitian I appreciate that she made me understand the importance of breastfeeding even before I stepped into my career years later. She was a strong woman and mother. May her soul rest in peace

Janet Amoit Omuriai....rest Easy my very good friend, former colleague and confidant! I was desperately searching for your contacts this morning ....I went into Google and what do I find??!!! Your death announcement! We first met in 1978 when I was teaching at St Patrick's Iten and you at Sing'ore Girls High School. We later got to work together at Imani School. Our last brief contact was when you were at Brookhouse. You were a most supportive friend and colleague.. You stood by me during some of my worst downtimes. Dance on with the angels Janet. May someone assist me with Renee's number? Charles Nyaberi 9722 530 399

Hi Eliabe Dunn!....This is Imani Games Teacher Charles Nyaberi. You are very right, in fact spot-on on your summary of Matron Janet Amoit Omuriai. She was Fair, Friendly but Firm. I first met Janet in 1978 in Iten and we re-united at Imani. I lost track of her more than 30 years ago. So today I decided to Google only to find the Death Announcement! So...How have you been? I am happy to learn from your tribute that you are now a Dietician! Are you in Kenya? I am in Nairobi most of the time and in Naivasha and Eldoret doing some light farming. I am still serving Kenyan Sports as President of Kenya Volleyball, Treasurer of Kenya National Sports Council and Marketing President of African Volleyball. How are your parents? Blessings and good health! Charles B. D. Nyaberi +254 722 530 399 cbdnyaberi@gmail.com

She was a very nice person though a big disciplinarian. She was a Mother to us at Imani School at a time we didn't really understand the importance of sticking to rules. She was fair but thorough and she is remembered fondly by so many good people she raised living around the world. Rest well our beloved Matron!

Her magical smile anytime I called her "Mom"... Her sense of dedication, commitment and selflessness was amazing. Mom Janet will go with me to visit the sick and elderly at their homes and she never relented. She is indeed a true Soldier of Christ. She will teach me swahili and give me small bottles of groundnut as incentive.. Mom, even from a million miles away I feel the heavy weight of your lose in my heart... I love you soo much but God Loves you even more... REST in the PEACE of CHRIST. My deepest condolences, Nowella and Renée

Rest in Peace dear Ms Omuriai. She was my matron in Imani when i was in 6th grade to form 1. She was stern but fair. Strict but kind. I remember how tall she used to be and how she was able to command a room. Thank you for being a parent to those of us that needed a stern but gentle figure in our lives. May you rest in peace ❤️🙏🏾

My heart felt condolence goes out to Janet's family. I knew Janet when we were student nurse trainees at the Nairobi Hospital. Though Janet was a class a head of me, she liked spots and so did I. So I got to know Janet as a volleyball teammate at the Nairobi Hospital. She was a good volley ball striker/player and Janet talked me through the tricks of playing volleyball which I mastered and exercised in the volleyball pitch. One thing I remember Janet for was that she was clean hearted but assertive and she stood by what she thought was her right. Due to geographical alignment, our daily endless busy life schedules and lack of proper communication channels ie mobile phones back in the days, we lost touch with each other. Janet was in my mind and I was certain that i would meet up with her again one day for a long long proper catch up. However, God's hidden plans are not our plans and my desire/plans to reconnect with Janet wasn't meant to be because she has physical left us. To Janet's children you had a great mother with desirable qualities that some of which I emulated. Rest well my volleyball team player. May your soul rest in eternal peace until we meet again. Lots of ❤️❤️🌹
